tribeca guest apartment plasterwork sculptural ceiling

Tribeca Studio

The clients, who live atop the 11-story building, purchased this 500-square foot studio downstairs to turn into a guest apartment. The design is both bold and elegant—and sure to make for a memorable stay.

The hand-cast plaster ceiling treads the line between whimsical and formal, turning a typically unnoticed surface into a stunning feature of the apartment. Paired with the saturated blue walls and a classic wood floor pattern, the striking space endlessly entertains the eye.

A room inside a room of one's own? This “bed box”—an elaborate, free-standing piece of cabinetry with one wall of accordion doors—provides a little relaxing respite in this diminutive studio apartment packed with dramatic flourishes.
