Upper West Side
Apartment

This gallery-like duplex--with 18-foot barrel-vaulted ceilings and over-sized windows--is the oldest of the eight buildings that comprise the West 67th Street Artists' Colony Historic District in Manhattan.

The clients wanted the space to reflect the building's history and, at the same time, to feel like the kind of lofted artist's space one might find in Paris.

We collaborated with the architect and designer to modernize the historic interior with many unique and custom details: A floating tread, steel-and-glass stair is the centerpiece of the home, for instance, and custom wallpaper with twinkling LED “stars” mimics the night sky in the baby’s room.
